AD is a 6-year-old female who experienced the abrupt onset of polyuria, polydipsia, and polyphagia. In spite of her increased appetite, she had lost weight. She was brought to her pediatrician who obtained blood and urine samples. Lab tests revealed the presence of hyperglycemia and glucosuria. (Diabetes mellitus is also discussed in Endocrine System.)
