Cardiac Physiology: Heart BlockĀ
JG is a 72-year-old retired business executive. He was hospitalized
following an acute myocardial infarction. JG was sitting in a chair
visiting with his wife when he suddenly fainted. The attending physician
examined his electrocardiogram (ECG) and noted the development of
Mobitz Type II Heart Block. It was a 3:1 block where one out of
three P waves was followed by a QRS complex. The patient was immediately
scheduled for the insertion of an artificial cardiac pacemaker.
