Graves’ Disease
CT is a 24-year-old female who noticed that a swelling on
the anterior surface of her neck has become progressively larger.
Physical examination by her doctor revealed the development of exophthalmos
as well as weight loss in the patient. In response to questioning
by her physician, CT indicated that she had been uncharacteristically
nervous and irritable. Furthermore, she had been experiencing heart
palpitations and excessive sweating. CT was referred to an endocrinologist
who ordered several tests.
