Computed Tomography (CT)
Computed tomography, also referred to as a CAT scan, obtains
multiple radiologic images from different angles around the body
which are then analyzed by a computer. The results are detailed,
cross-sectional views of the body’s organs and tissues. CT scans
are particularly useful for evaluating tissues within the cranium
as well as the thoracic and abdominal cavities. Pathologic conditions,
including cancers, may be diagnosed in the brain, lung, liver, and pancreas.
